2024 Harwoods Mill Half & 5K
January 13, 2024
Half Marathon: 8:30AM 5K 9:15AM
Harwoods Mill Park
Packet Pick-up will take place onsite at Harwoods Mill Park on the day of the event. Pick-up will open at 7AM and remain open until the start of the event. Each runner must pick up their own packet for the race. Because you will not be near your vehicle when you receive your packet, we are only going to pass out your race bib before the race, and you will have to come by your shirt after the run.
Packet Pick-up will be located at the shuttle drop-off. Race staff will direct runners from the shuttle drop-off area to the start line.
If the event is not sold out, registration will be available at the start line beginning at 7AM.
Parking & Shuttles
Parking will be located at the McReynolds Athletic Complex in York County. The entrance is located along Route 17 at Sports way, across from the Big Lots shopping center entrance. The address is 412 Sports Way, Yorktown, VA 23692. Upon parking, racers will take a short shuttle ride to the start line area. There is no parking at the start line and the space for shuttle drop off is extremely limited, so we ask that everyone comply with our parking and shuttle plan.
Shuttles will begin running at 7:00AM and be on rotation until all runners have been transported to the start line area. Shuttles will be staged at the finish of the race to return runners to their vehicles. Any spectators will also need to ride the shuttles to the start area.
The course will have various types of signage along the way to help runners stay on the correct path. This will include directional signage, colored flags/ribbon, and maybe even a few traffic cones. The course is a combination of wide, open trail roads and single-trail bicycle paths. The course will not be blown off or maintained. We encourage you to wear the proper footwear as the location tends to retain a good bit of water. Finally, there will be a total of 4 aid stations on the half marathon course, one of which will also serve the 5K course. These stations will be maintained by race staff, but will be self-serve, meaning you will grab what you want from the stations yourself. All stations will have both water and electrolytes. Energy gels will be available at aid station 3.
There is a 4-hour time limit for the Half Marathon, and participants must be 12 years of age or older to participate.
Pets are NOT allowed on the race course or post-race field for the safety of race participants, spectators and the animals.
However, service animals as recognized by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) are permitted on course. Should you decide to run the race with a service animal, please email us at email@example.com.
The Half Marathon is limited to 200 runners, while the 5K is limited to 150 runners.
All entry fees are non-refundable, but deferrals are available up January 8. Should you need to defer your entry, the fee to defer your race entry is $20 for the 5K and $30 for the Half Marathon. If you would like to defer your registration, please login to your RunSignUp account before the deadline to take care of the deferral.
Without great volunteers, the Chills in the Mill Harwoods Half & 5K would not be able to run smoothly. We want to encourage both individuals and groups to consider getting involved and joining us for this exciting event.
